the EX’s door handles and trim were painted, the LX and DX had black plastic door handles and trim. try looking at your registration or running your VIN through CARFAX, it should tell you.

***EDIT: Ignore the last guy, those options are for modern Civics, not the 1997 model(they didn’t have MP3 players in ’97, that’s a dead giveaway). my mom actually has a ’98 Civic EX.

DX
Honda Civic Sedan The DX offers the following features:

Tilt steering wheel
Height-adjustable driver seat
LX
The LX comes with:

16-inch wheels
CD player with MP3/WMA playback
Air-conditioning
Full power accessories
Keyless Entry
Cruise Control
EX
Honda Civic CoupeThe EX adds the following to the LX:

Alloy wheels
Sunnroof
60/40-split rear seatback
2 extra speakers
Steering Wheel-Mounted Audio Controls and a portable music player jack.
In addition, there are two speciality models: the Civic Hybrid sedan and the Civic Si. Both are equipped to a level similar to the EX trim, though the Si also comes with a sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch wheels and special interior trim, while the Civic Hybrid has automatic climate control but no sunroof.[1] For the EX, Hybrid, and Si, satellite radio and a navigation system are optional.

Go to honda website and put in ur vin number and it will pull up info on car. honda.com
